Palm Sunday 33 AD… a day filled with conflicting emotions. Celebration marked the day as people lined the road going from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem, the “City of Peace.” They waved palm branches, threw their cloaks on the road, hooped and hollered praises and blessings. But for Jesus, the emotion was mourning. He wept. He knew the City of Peace would soon reject and crucify the Prince of Peace. Anthony challenged us to respond to the juxtaposition of emotions on Palm Sunday by making it personal: How does Jesus’ triumphal entry into our lives make us new, different, and special? As we experience a rollercoaster of emotions, what grounds us in Christ and unites us as a body?
The Lord is My Shepherd
What does it mean for the Lord to be our Shepherd? According to David in Psalm 23, it means that we shall never be in want of anything. We will be made to slow down, quiet down, and sit down. Our souls will be restored and whole, like they were designed to be from the beginning. We shall not fear evil or death – no matter what we’re facing. Many of us know the Psalm… Let’s make sure we know the Shepherd.
