James: Listening & Doing

At the end of James 1, James tackles two very contemporary subjects: Listening and Doing. Regarding “Listening,” James emphasizes the importance of listening to God and God’s Word through the many avenues made available to us. Today that means hearing, reading, studying, memorizing and meditating upon God’s Word. Do we listen to God as much as we speak to Him? Or is our conversation more one-sided? James also shares a vivid illustration about how followers of God and Jesus Christ need to not merely listen to God, but we need to do what He commands us to do. The world is filled with those who can talk-the-talk, but not enough who will walk the walk… loving, serving, giving and forgiving like Jesus.

Many of us know the Psalm… Let’s make sure we know the Shepherd.
