Hallowed Be Thy Name: Adonai

This week we studied the name of God: Adonai. Adonai means Lord, Master, Ruler or Authority. God as Adonai is waiting to bless those who recognize His mastery and rule. Thus, this name of God is difficult for many to fully embrace. We are excited to acknowledge God as Creator, unchanging and self-existing, but to surrender to God as Adonai means turning over our lives completely. The same is true when we talk about Jesus. Too many of us are happy to call him Savior and reluctant to serve him as Lord. To Jesus, that was never an option.
